Butterflies’ Love Story is inspired by ancient eave, the “officer’s Cap Chair” in Ming Furniture and Chinese landscape painting scroll with other Chinese elments like the desk set on the “Kang” (a heatable brick bed in North China), flower stand, lamp, lacquer vase, scroll hold and Chinese zither. The craftsmanship includes but not limited to brocade, embroidery, porcelain, lacquerware, mortise and tenon joint, zither-adjusting, Mokume Gane, ramie and metal processing.
Different scrolls of coverings are partly overlaying one another together. The flower blossom part adopts an technique listed as and intangible cultural heritage—brocade, while the fluttering butterflies uses double-sided embroidery, adding vitality and innovations to traditional craftsmanship. The screen stand is a typical moiste and tenon joint structure, which is simple, elegant and stable, widely used in Ming furniture.
